 Biography

 

Carl Johnson has over twenty years of business and senior management experience in communications technology and telecommunications.  Beginning with Anixter, a reseller of cable and telephony products, he was responsible for regional sales and distribution.  He then moved to the wireless industry where he provided consulting services to Southwestern Bell Wireless, a cellular service provider, in the areas of asset management, organizational development and distribution.

 

Later, he joined Ericsson, a Swedish-based telecommunications manufacturer, where he gained experience as a senior manager in the wireline and wireless business units.  While at Ericsson he led the business development and product launch of advanced intelligent network products, managed a systems integration release planning group for wireless products such as PCS, and was active in corporate venturing which included being a stakeholder representative in StarTech, a technology incubator.  Additionally, Carl’s experience living and working in Europe has enabled him to lead many global initiatives and gain experience with varying cultures.

 

Recently, Carl has been involved in the new venture community working with startup companies in the areas of capital search and secure, building advisory boards, organizational strategy, operational planning, executive team building, business plan development, market opportunity analysis and the commercialization of technology.  He served on the board of directors for the Association for Corporate Growth - Dallas Chapter, participates in the MIT Forum and the Southwest Venture Forum, serves on the advisory board of QuickFlex, an Austin-based security encryption startup, is an associate with BizVestors, a venture capital firm providing seed-stage investments to internet-centric companies, and is a partner with NetWide, a technology commercialization group.
